Toby’s Coffee Bar
Toby's Coffee Bar was established in 2006 within the historic Toby's Feed Barn in Point Reyes Station, California. Founded by chef Christian Caiazzo the coffee bar was envisioned as a community hub offering high-quality, locally sourced beverages and pastries. The coffee bar is a beloved spot for both locals and visitors.
Espresso Con Panna and Sweet Veneziana Brioche
Espresso con panna, meaning "espresso with cream" in Italian, traces its roots back to traditional European coffeehouses. It was inspired by Viennese coffee culture, where whipped cream was commonly used to combat the intensity of strong coffee. The drink consists of a shot or two of rich espresso topped with a dollop of whipped cream. The taste is a balance of bold, slightly bitter espresso with the smooth, creamy sweetness of the whipped topping. The contrast in texture—hot and intense below, cool and silky above—makes it a delightful and indulgent coffee experience. Espresso will never be something I can fully enjoy but the added sweetness of the whipped cream made it more enjoyable.
The sweet Veneziana brioche is a traditional Italian pastry that originated in Milan and is closely tied to the Lombardy region. The Veneziana is a soft, buttery brioche-like bread flavored with candied orange peel and sometimes dotted with raisins or cream filling. What sets it apart is its fragrant dough—often infused with vanilla—and its signature topping of pearl sugar, which create a delightful crunchy contrast to the pillowy interior. The flavor is rich yet light, with a gentle sweetness and aromatic notes from the vanilla. It's often enjoyed at breakfast with coffee or espresso in this case.
