Eden Medical Center is the main acute‑care and trauma hospital serving Castro Valley and surrounding Southern Alameda County. Originally founded in 1954 by the Eden Health District, it has grown from a mid‑20th century community hospital into a modern, Sutter Health–affiliated facility with 130 private inpatient rooms, a Level II trauma center, and centers of excellence in neuroscience, orthopedics, stroke, cancer, rehabilitation, and women’s health. The original building was replaced in 2013 by a seven‑story, $320 million state‑of‑the‑art campus after a state‑mandated seismic retrofit and now offers around‑the‑clock emergency services, advanced imaging, birthing, and full inpatient care.
