Caffe Bene - San Jose

Caffe Bene San Jose

Caffe Bene is located at the corner of Tasman Dr. and Zanker Rd. in North San Jose. It is part of the largest coffeehouse chain in South Korea that has taken over many other countries. “Bene” in Italian means “good” and the CEO Sun-Kwon Kim was confident that this brand could outclass the ones he saw in Canada where he first got the idea. This coffeehouse is modeled after European open-air cafes which brings a relaxing and almost romantic atmosphere to the café. Caffe Bene specializes in coffee drinks, Belgian waffles, and other savory dishes

Mint Shakerato and Belgian Waffle

I ordered both a mint shakerato and a Belgian waffle while at Caffe Bene. The waffle only came with powdered sugar, and although they offered honey at the counter, it was sweet enough where it didn’t need anything else. A shakerato is traditionally smooth and very cold espresso with foam on top and a bold coffee taste. However, this shakerato lacked the foamy milk on top. The result was a latte like mixture with a slight minty taste from the mint leaves on top.

Overall Review

  • Mint Shakerato: 7/10

  • Belgian Waffle: 9/10

  • Total: 8/10
