Steamboats regularly traveled from San Francisco to Alviso until railroad become more and more popular. Totaling 18.9 acres in size, the Alviso Marina County park is the highlight of this community. It offers amazing views of the bay as well as the surrounding mountains. The salt ponds at this park stretch as far as the eye can see. Another interesting phenomena is the color of the water which is pink. This is due to some microscopic algae that live in very salty water.
The two main things to do in Alviso include visiting the Alviso Marina County Park and swinging golf clubs at Top Golf.
